Over spring break, I had the opportunity to help edit online promos for Iowa Public Television's upcoming Greetings from Iowa web series. I was on a team with two other production interns and we were tasked with writing the script, choosing shots, and ultimately piecing together the promo. I got to practice my Abode After Effects and color correction skills. We finished ahead of schedule.
It's been an exciting first two weeks with Urban Plains. I have been tasked with keeping my team on track and making sure we meet all our deadlines. We have lots of stories in the works ranging from Islam's history in Cedar Rapids, art programs for Des Moines high schoolers, and pet yoga. I'm excited to help out with the multimedia content for the group. You can keep up to date at: https://urban-plains.com/
For my documentary class, I get the opportunity to collaborate with a group of students from the Technologico de Moneterrey in Mexico. They are working to create a documentary about women's flag football and the perceptions about it created by machismo culture. I'm working as a consultant for the project, and I just got the first cut of the documentary. I am so excited to see the work that this group is going to do! This project has been an amazing way to live up to Drake University's mission of global citizenship.
I am so excited to announce that I have submitted my Fulbright application! I am applying to create a documentary about female coffee farmers in Vietnam. I'm so proud of all the hard work that I put into this project. Now I have to wait till January to figure out if I am going to move on to the next stage of the application process.
